Typically, a session will have a duration of 45 minutes. The assigned therapist will interact directly with the client through play-based and conversation-based activities that target communication goal areas. Parents are welcome to sit in on sessions to observe the strategies being used and discuss therapy questions they may have with the SLP.
In order to have your child seen at Associated Speech Consultants, you can phone or email the clinic. Our administrative staff will provide you with intake forms to complete. Once we receive the completed forms, your child will be placed on our waitlist for an initial assessment. Based on the initial assessment, recommendations for frequency of intervention will be provided.
Your child will be assigned to the staff member with availability. This could be at one of our two locations. We do try to accommodate family preference, however, this could result in a longer wait time as staff does not always become available at your preferred location when your name is next on the list.
We require 24 hours notice of any cancellation or the missed appointment is subject to our late cancellation fee. Please see the cancellation policy section of our website for more details.
At Associated Speech Consultants we offer social language groups for a variety of ages. These sessions focus on helping clients develop the various communication skills used in daily interaction with peers.
Most often, families are not required to bring anything to the sessions. However, if your child uses assistive technology to communicate (example: iPad with a communication app), it is helpful for you to bring that along!
